From Charlotte Street

We live on Charlotte Street. We live in the city. We love our neighborhood. We love our boys. Our house is usually a wild mess; full of wrestling children and flying footballs. We are so far from perfect and so thankful that we don't have to be because we serve a God was and is perfect for us.

Down Home

This is my first official blog post! I thought it would only be fitting to explain my blog title in my first post, Down Home. To be honest, Titus and I were dancing in the dining room today to the song Down Home by Alabama and hit me, "This should be my blog title"! It might seem odd to many of you that I feel like that song characterizes our life (in some ways). For those of you who know the song Down Home is a country song about living in a small town and all the reasons they love their small town, like knowing everybody by name, treating everybody like family, and life moving at a slower pace. For those of you who know our family we live in an area called Midtown which is in the urban core of Kansas City. Midtown would not typically be described by a country song. I bet 98% of the people living in midtown strongly dislike country music! But for us..it works! We love midtown for many many reasons. We love our city and in some ways that seem weird to most it's kind of like the song Down Home. We really do see someone we know almost everywhere we go, we walk a lot of places we go, and sit our front porches. Now you all know why my blog is titled Down  home when I live in the middle of the country, in a big city.
I've included some pics of our family to go with this post!
